Process Components
Description
One of Numet's specialties is the supply of nuclear process components such as
Drain Traps,
Flame Arrestors,
Flow Restriction Elements,
Pressure Reducing Coils,
Sight Glasses and
Y-Strainers.
These engineered products are backed by 30 years of experience in the application, research, development and testing of these components. During this time, Numet has supplied thousands of such components throughout the world to more than 25 nuclear reactors.
If Numet's existing component models do not match your current needs, Numet can adapt one of its proven designs to answer your specific application. Numet designs and fabricates all products in-house to maximize quality control of its nuclear products, while minimizing cost and schedule.
If your project needs more than just a component solution, Numet has the in-depth Engineering and supply expertise to address all your nuclear equipment and tooling requirements.

Drain Traps
Drain traps are designed to perform two distinct functions:
- to enable draining of liquid from a gas process system, i.e. liquid purge
- to enable the removal of trapped gases from a liquid process system, i.e. gas release

Flame Arrestors
Numet flame arresters are high pressure rated components that are used to prevent the propagation of flame fronts in process piping.
On occurrence of a flame condition, the flame arrester rapidly removes enough heat from the traveling flame front to ensure quenching of the flame. Numet flame arresters are thus designed to have a large thermal mass and a high coefficient of heat transfer. in addition to being a high pressure rated component.

Flow Restriction Elements
Flow restriction elements are used in two separate process applications: pressure reduction and metering.
Numet provides several different designs of flow restriction element:
- single stage orifice plate
- multi-stage orifice plate
- venturi
- nozzle
Selection of flow restriction type and detailed design is determined by the application and the application accuracy requirements.

Pressure Reducing Coils
Pressure reducing coils are used to enable the sampling of process fluids from high pressure process systems. By tapping off a small amount of the process fluid and passing it through the pressure reducing coil, sampling can occur at atmospheric pressure and low flow rate. more...

Sight Glasses
Sight glasses and sight flow indicators are used in process systems to provide direct visual confirmation of flow in pressurized piping. In addition to indicating flow of process fluid, they allow the examination of the fluid for particulate content. more...

Y-Strainers
Y-Strainers are used in relatively clean process streams to filter light particulate from the process fluid. This is necessary in almost all process streams to protect other components (pumps, filters, valves, etc.) from damage or contamination that could result in expensive replacement costs and downtime.
The process fluid enters the Y-Strainer and passes into the interior of a cylindrical screen (basket). The fluid passes through the screen and all particulate larger than the screen mesh is trapped in the screen. This is particularly beneficial immediately after start-up, when assembly of the system may have created a large quantity of particulate (weld burrs, fragments, dust particles, etc.). more...
